Experience

Mike has 23 years of experience managing private investment funds and providing capital to innovative companies. Over the course of his career, more than 80 companies have raised capital working with Mike as a principal investor or advisor. In total, Mike has been involved in $3.6 billion of principal investments, closed $24 billion of debt and equity financings, and advised on $10 billion of M&A transactions.

From 2009 to 2020, Mike was a partner and investment committee member of CRG, a healthcare investment firm that provides growth capital to commercial-stage healthcare companies. During Mike’s tenure, CRG invested $4 billion in capital across more than 60 portfolio companies, raised three long-term private funds, and completed the first-ever securitization transactions backed by a portfolio of long-term senior loans to growth stage healthcare companies.

Prior to CRG, Mike worked in Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets division, specializing in secured debt financings and intellectual property monetizations related to the healthcare, technology, and transportation industries. Mike collaborated with Vincent on multiple projects during their time at Morgan Stanley.

Education

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1999 from The Johns Hopkins University, graduating first in his class of 770. Mike holds the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing.

Interests

Mike spent his early years in Michigan before moving to Germany and graduating from the International School of Düsseldorf where he met his wife Tamara. Together, they have lived in both the United States and Europe while raising three children. Mike is passionate about racquet and water sports, as well as endurance athletics and has completed seven Ironman triathlons.
